Guidelines for Poster Printing

The following guidelines are divided into two parts: Those that must be met before a poster is printed and those designed to help organize the material to be printed in an efficient way.

 

Required:

1. Fill out the request form completely (obtainable from BIOL 226). An active account number that has been verified as usable for payment of poster printing and as having a balance sufficient to pay for the poster must be provided (currently, the charge is $45 per poster). The account authorized signature must be obtained prior to printing.
2. A proof printed on 8.5 X 11" paper and initialed to indicate that you take full responsibility for any errors. That is, if there are author errors on the printed poster, you are willing to either accept the poster as printed or pay for reprinting.
3. Zip disks or rewritable CDs are the preferred media for conveying the digitized poster. Other media are usable, but check with the Main Office in advance.
4. The digital file must be submitted 5 working days in advance of the need, unless prior arrangements are made.

General:

1. Power Point appears to be the application of choice. Presumably any application that will print correctly on a standard printer will also print on the large-format printer.
2. Print paper is 42" wide. If your poster guidelines allow, a custom print size for portrait orientation of 42" by x" (x = however many inches in height are required) is suggested. If greater width is required, orientation should be landscape; a 42"-height is suggested, although actual, centered subject area may be less.
3. Be sure the number of pixels/inch in images will support the enlargement you are asking for without significant degradation (that is, without the individual pixels being conspicuous).
