Fall 2013 Student Teachers:
- Applications for the Fall Student Teaching semester are due no later than March 28th at 5 PM.
- You must be admitted into the Teacher Education program in order to be a Student Teacher. Students who are not admitted by the March 28th deadline will not be allowed to student teach. Plan ahead and submit your Application to Student Teacher 2-3 weeks BEFORE March 28th to allow time for processing. See your CASE advisor for more information
- INCOMPLETE Applications to Student Teach will be returned and not processed.
All your coursework except student teaching and the Multicultural class must be completed before student teaching. You are only allowed to take 1 additional course to make 12 credit hours total during this final semester. That course must be after 5 pm, on-line or Saturdays. You are NOT allowed to miss time during your student teaching assignment in order to take UTEP classes or work.
Student Teaching is Monday through Friday for 15 weeks from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is on the School District calendar and NOT the UTEP calendar. Fall student teachers placed in Socorro ISD begin in mid-July. All other districts begin in early August. Once you are accepted to student teaching, you will receive an email with further information about start dates, mandatory CASE & ISD orientations, and background check processes.
Students who take and pass their qualifying AND state certification exams before the end of their internship are eligible for a one-time rebate from CASE, while supplies last. Please see your CASE advisor or see the information under the Qualifying and Internship semester tab on this website.
