Student Teacher Orientation
Spring 2014 Student Teachers:
- Applications for the Spring Student Teaching semester are due no later than October 25th at 5:00 PM.
- You must be admitted into the Teacher Education program in order to be a Student Teacher. Students who are not admitted by the October 25th deadline will not be allowed to student teach. Plan ahead and submit your Application to Student Teacher 2-3 weeks BEFORE October 25th to allow time for processing. See your CASE advisor for more information
- INCOMPLETE Applications to Student Teach will be returned and not processed.
All your coursework except student teaching must be completed before student teaching. You are allowed to take 1 additional course to make 12 credit hours total during this final semester. The course(s) must be after 5 pm, on-line or Saturdays. You are NOT allowed to miss time during your student teaching assignment in order to take UTEP classes or work.
Student Teaching is Monday through Friday for 15 weeks from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is on the School District calendar and NOT the UTEP calendar. Once you are accepted to student teaching, you will receive an email with further information about start dates, mandatory CASE & ISD orientations, and background check processes.
