| Although
born in Manteca, CA on March 5, 1985, son of Roger A.
Ashmus and Sun Hui Alipio, Roger A. Ashmus Jr. spent
majority of his life in El Paso, TX. In 2003, he graduated
top 2% of his class at Andress High School and received
an academic scholarship at UTEP. As an undergraduate,
Roger became involved with many clubs and organizations.
He was elected an officer for his most affiliated organization,
American Chemical Society, where he regularly organized
and participated in presenting several small chemistry
explorations from grades 1-12. In addition to clubs
and organizations, he worked as a Peer Leader for Chemistry
1305 under the supervision of Dr. James Becvar and gained
research experience under Dr. James Salvador in the
study and comparison of NMR 2D Spectroscopy in correlation
to computer based calculation of distances and under
Dr. Elizabeth Gardner in the study of improving a fingerprint
developing method known as the physical developer. Roger
graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry
with a minor in Biology in the Spring of 2007 and now
plans to further his education as a graduate student
at UTEP for his Master’s in Organic Synthesis
and to eventually achieve his Ph.D. at another credible
University.
