Lucia Godinez was born and raised in Mexico. She was accepted at UTEP on the summer of 2000 and was awarded the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) scholarship in the fall of 2003. Lucia started research in the Biology department that same year. In 2005 she had completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbioloy and one in Chemistry. In the summer of 2007 she became a GK-12 fellow and will work towards a Master´s degree in the Biology department investigating the impact of certain organotin materials in biological systems.
