Clarissa Sara Gomez

Clarissa Sara Gomez was a 2001 high school graduate of Bowie High School and attended the University of Texas at El Paso for her undergraduate studies. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. She was an active member of Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) and held positions around the university such as the Engineering and Science EXPO coordinator, Order of the Engineer coordinator, and was also a proud team member of the Academic Center for Engineers and Scientists (ACES). She was the chemistry tutor for the UT Austin Pre-Pharmacy Program for two years. As an undergraduate she was dedicated to her research for over two years in the field of inorganic chemistry where she was mentored by Dr. Elizabeth Gardner. Her research involved analyzing the chemical and physical properties of inorganic nanoparticles with a focus on Layered Double Hydroxides for sensors and devices. She is currently pursuing her M.S. in chemistry.
