Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
POSITION DESCRIPTION AND REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Physics at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications from outstanding candidates with expertise in experimental condensed matter physics for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position. The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, functional nano- and bio-materials. Potential application of such research and any composites/materials associated with it should preferably reside in areas such as renewable energy, energy conversion and storage, and biomedicine. Candidates with an established track record of publications, strong potential for a successful, independent, externally funded research program, which will complement and expand ongoing efforts in experimental research within the Department, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related area and have postdoctoral experience. He/she must demonstrate the ability to teach physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and a commitment to student mentoring. The successful candidate will be a core faculty member in the Physics MS and the College PhD programs.
ABOUT THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT: The Department of Physics at UTEP enrolls approximately 17 graduate and 107 undergraduate students. The department boasts a rapidly growing research program with emphasis in materials, energy, and biomedical sciences. The department has access to outstanding computational capabilities and state-of-the-art facilities for optical, microscopic, and structural material characterizations. The department offers Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master’s (MS) degrees and participates in interdisciplinary PhD programs in Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Computational Science, and Biomedical Engineering.
