UTEP Chapter nationally recognized! Our chapter received commendation 2010-2011.
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association explicitly designed for students. Membership in the UTEP Chapter is open to anyone on interested in physics. Within SPS is housed Sigma Pi Sigma, the national physics honor society, which elects members on the basis of outstanding academic achievement.
UTEP's Chapter of SPS is perhaps best known for its "Physics Circus" a popular, travelling show that uses exciting physics demonstrations to teach basic physics principles to local K-12 students. Our chapter meets weekly during the academic year and is actively involved in fund raising, attending professional meetings (SPS Zone meetings as well as APS regional and national meetings), and tutoring physics.

SPS members paint the SPS room (PSCI 219) and play ping-pong in undergraduate research room (PSCI 128).
